Balika Ashram

The girls rescued from domestic slavery and trafficking are rehabilitated at the Balika Mukti Ashram. These girls are trained in non formal education and vocational training.

 

 

 

 

 

BBA is working on the interventions of rehabilitation for the girls, who have been withdrawn from work, in the following areas:

  • In the district of Ambedkar Nagar in Uttar Pradesh, which is expected to be functional from December 2009
  • Child Friendly Village in Rajasthan. Here the girl children are being provided with non formal education and training. The classes have started.  However, the building is still under construction and is expected to be fully functional from October 2009.

 

Balika Ashram, the girls’ rehabilitation programme of BBA has suffered a set back in 2008 with Balika Ashram (Sanctuary for the girls) being forcibly occupied by Child Trust. A case pertaining to the same is pending before the Hon. High Court of Delhi.
