Ghazal maestro Pankaj Udhas and Bachpan Bachao Andolan to work together for flood victims of Bihar

Ghazal maestro Pankaj Udhas, the goodwill ambassador of Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA) declared during the "Ek Shaam Bachpan ke Naam", programme organized in Jaipur that he would work with BBA for flood victims of Bihar.

He said "My understanding on the issue of child labour has grown better since my association with BBA began 5 years ago". He also spent a day at Bal Ashram BBA's rehabilitation centre for rescued bonded child labourers in 2004. He was pleasantly surprised by the talent of the children there. From then on, he has been continuously participating in all the programmes organized by BBA. He was also present in the 2nd Children's World Congress on Child Labour and Education in September 2005. His concerts with BBA in Delhi have almost been a yearly feature.

Ek shaam Bachpan ke naam was jointly organized by BBA and Medley Entertainment in Jaipur on 6 September 2008. H.H Brigadier Bhavani Singh; former Governer of Gujarat and Rajasthan and President of Bal Ashram, Justice Mr. Anshuman Singh; Labour Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Ram Kishore Meena; and Judge of Rajasthan High Court, Mr. Manish Bhandari graced the concert.

Shri Udhas said "Child trafficking in flood ravaged areas is definitely inhuman. Special efforts should be made to stop child trafficking and strict action taken against the traffickers. I pledge my support to this cause." To raise funds for the flood victims, Ek Shaam Bachpan Ke Naam is planned in Delhi too in the coming months.
