ABOUT BAL ASHRAM
OUR WORK

The children of the Ashram are proactive, leaders-in-the-making and quite motivated. Although a lot of it is induced, they seem to have internalized the training so much so that all of it comes out quite spontaneously even without slightest provocation. Just like the volcano that erupts when the pressure within reaches its peak, these children also come out with the suppressed emotions, which were hitherto not manifested.

The children are given freedom to be themselves at the Ashram. This brings out their real personality, which is then groomed and polished. Most of them have an ugly history behind them and so they are made to experience a liberated way of life, something that was previously unknown to them.

The Ashram is a hub of professional and academic learning, essentially through the play-way method. Once at the Ashram, the boys are trained in the three 'R's, namely, reading, writing and arithmetic. They also undergo vocational training in a number of disciplines best suited to their expertise like carpentry, tailoring, painting etc. Once the training period at the Ashram is over, the boys are sent to a formal school in Sauthana where they are integrated into the mainstream education framework.
