Our
Partners
BBA today represents a convergence
platform of numerous stakeholders including
the teachers union AIFTO (All India
Federation of Teachers Organisation)
AIPTF (All India Primary Teachers Federation),
various NGO’s, human rights groups,
and trade unions numbering almost 750
members.BBA adopted a model of movement where
we have tried to address the problem
holistically for a greater worldview.
For example the issue of child labour
could only be solved through the long-term
strategy of universalisation of education.
Therefore our emphasis is not only identification,
raid, rescue and rehabilitation but
also to give permanency to newly tasted
freedom of children, we intensified
efforts for universalisation of primary
education. Working on the issue over the years
BBA has realised through our primary
identity of an NGO but we have gone
beyond the NGO orbit and in our efforts
and in our campaign we have roped in
non NGO players like Trade Union and
Teachers Union and Media etc.
The magnitude of this problem is so
huge that single-handed intervention
can not solve the problem. There is
need for not only intrasectoral alliance
building but also intersectoral coalition.
Unless we rope in multiple stakeholders
like Human Rights Groups, Teachers Union,
Trade Union and political parties etc,
the problem of child labour will have
been remain long unresolved. Here comes, the role of coalition and
networking, we have effectively networked
and build coalition through our various
yatras, marches which have provided
an opportunity to go beyond issue based
networking and joining hands with several
entities like Trade Union and Teachers
Union which are not conventionally active
partners on such an issue.
Thus, today BBA is a vibrant network
of more 787 organisations, though loosely
constituted but having a presence not
only in India but the South Asian region
too.
